Viking
challenge 2007
Our incredibly talented Kettering branch Manager, Steve Squires recently
took part in the annual Viking Challenge mountain bike race. Riding mainly on
bridle paths, tracks and country back lanes, the route covered 51 kilometers
around the Leicestershire countryside in the vale of Belvoir.
This years conditions were a welcome relief to what normally turns out
to be a wet and muddy event. Recent dry and mild weather allowed the serious
riders to achieve quick times. Steve achieved his best time ever this
year with a time of 2 hrs 38 minutes finishing 128th out of 744 starters.
Steve has raised thousands of pounds over the years, taking part in other
events such as Triathlons, runs, swims and walks. This years event raised
funds for the fight against Leukemia and he would like to thank everyone,
including all his work colleagues at Echo Personnel for their kind donations. |

Echo have recently sponsored a Kettering under 11's football team: "
The Ise Lodge Eagles"
The lads play in a local league and with their new kit hope to be on winning
form!

Ricky
Impey racing in the Echo pickup 46 brought the car to the line in style
in both races at the June Rockingham meeting. Battling for the race win
Ricky skilfully earnt a place as a front runner in the extremely popular
and competitive championship - it's only a matter of time before his first
win.
The
superb race results can be credited to the dedication of the team supporting
the cars both on the circuit and in the workshop. Echo have just completed
an engine deal with a leading engine builder and this relationship will
put the cars further into race winning positions.
The next meeting on July 3rd is promising to be exciting
as both the Echo cars will be battling for the top position. More information
on the July meeting will be available soon. |
First Round of Days Of Thunder a disaster for the Echo Team!
After a superb qualifying day on the Saturday in the rain the Echo backed
car finished 3rd overall of the 22 car grid.

Driver Richard was really pleased with the outcome of the day especially
after he had only done a handful of laps during his Rookie training. The
team was excited about the race the following day and was looking forward
to a podium finish.
On Sunday, in dry conditions, Richard was let down by his engine in the
first race. The problem could not be repaired for the afternoon race,a
great disappointment after the good showing in the Saturday sessions.
The next round on June 6th will see both the Echo cars on
track with Ricky Impey being the 2nd driver.
James
Gornall continued his success in the British Formula Renault
UK championship in the Echo backed car. Racing at the super fast Thruxton
circuit he managed a 10th place after a near miss in a huge crash and
picked up the best drive of the day award. The young Peteborough driver
has a steep hill to climb this season but has his sights set on the top
already. James has contacts in F1 and his dream is becoming ever nearer. |
One of the top mainstream Formula Renault teams, Fortec Motorsport,
contacted James Gornall (as the new BARC Formula Renault champion), to
take part in the final winter series round at Croft last weekend (8/9
November)

James
Gornall, the Echo backed Formula Renault driver, competed in the British
Formula Renault winter series last weekend (1/2 November) with one of
the top teams, Fortech Motorsport.
Gornall was well on the pace until a crash ended his chances of a decent
position in the Final. He started at the back of the 32 car grid but battled
his way through to 15th position, a fine drive under the circumstances.
Team Boss Richard Dutton was impressed with James. James will be competing
in a full season next year if a seat is available with Echo backing.
